Munda hua Shahid

Boring Part – Our Journey to Delhi

It all started on 17th of April. I was running with two bags engaging both my hands to Jeevan Bhima Nagar depot at Bangalore. Now you must be thinking why two bags? One bag was the burden of the sin, I committed one and a half year ago.

Pilot ne humse maje liye

We landed Delhi at 9.50 PM(supposed to be at 9.20). Santosh was waiting to book a bus ticket to Dehradun at ISBT. I informed him that we have landed but still not out of flight. Our plane was running inside airport for some 20 minutes after landing. We were worried thinking is it that our plane has landed at some wrong airport and one of the pretty air hostesses will announce “ may I have your attention please, please keep your seat belt fastened. Due to some technical malfunction, we have landed at Jaipur airport. In a few minutes we are flying to Delhi airport”. But thankfully that was not the case. In fact once this came to my mind, why don’t I ask this pilot to take the road to Dehradun when he was so much interested in driving plane rather flying it.

On 17th April, we made Santosh April Fool

Finally at 10.30 PM we got an autorickshaw to ISBT where Santosh was waiting for us. Ok, I have mentioned Santosh twice now so let me tell his story. He was supposed to come with us to Dehradun. Bus as the fate goes, he could not because one of his major distributor was resigning. And if Santosh went with us, who knows next day Pidilite would have forced Santosh also to resign. Coming back to the main story, Santosh was waiting to know the exact time when we could reach so that he can book bus tickets.

By the time we reached ISBT, it was 11.15 PM. For your information, Santosh was waiting for us from 8.30. Auto guy dropped in front of a footway overbridge. I read on the overbridge, ”For ISBT foot overbridge” . From last few minutes I was getting some phone call from a new number on my Reliance phone. Reliance has a problem of cross-connection due to which I used to get weird calls from Lucknow, Jhalda, Patiala and I don’t know what all places. Since this number was also new, I thought, it must be from one of such locations. I was on roaming so din’t answer the call. When same number appeared thrice, I answered the call and guess what, it was apna own Chetan (Don Bhai). By the time I reached the other side of foot over bridge and asked one autowala “which is the entrance for ISBT”. He showed me the other side of the road from where I was coming. I felt like killing those signboard guys. When I came back, I saw everything was written there except “ For” . Then and there I got one kick in my ass from Anjana. Let me mention here, since Anjana is new to Delhi, I was showing off as much as I can but here everything fell flat.

Chetan Rana, The Don Bhai

Ok, while all this, Chetan asked me not to go by Bus as he and Anil was going by car next day morning that is, 18th April, the D-day. I immediately called Santosh and asked him not to book ticket and to wait wherever he was. It was wrong day to make him April Fool but fate had it. I was surprised why Chetan called me so late. Answer was our very own Priya Paul.

Priya ki ek Jhalak hi kafi hai

Priya Paul whom I told atleast 10 times that I am landing Delhi by 9.30 PM. But HSBC changed the time to 11.00 PM and that is why Chetan called me at 11.00. Priya was also supposed to come but recession took its toll on her trip. She did not come as her boss gave her ultimatum.

Bin bulaye mehmaan

Santosh and family somehow managed to provide bed and dinner to their sudden guests weighing more than 150 kgs put together.

Ek journey aisa bhi

Next day morning, our trip began to Dehradun. Hey hey hey, but are you aware, where were we actually going, I mean for what???? Ok let me tell you the title of this blog – Munda hua Shahid. It was wedding of Vineet on 18th of April, 2009.

Vineet ki pareshani

Vineet was very upset with the latest development as he was expecting some support from me and Anjana from 18th morning itself. It was his sagaaii” that morning. We interpreted he was very tense with this new development in his life. Still he asked me to make everyone leave by 5.00 in the morning so that we can reach Dehradun by 12.00.

Anil Upreti and his Nature’s call

We started at 8.00 from Delhi. It was an awesome journey to Dehradun. We stopped in between for different reasons-brunch, fresh air and nature’s call. Anil Upreti had this special problem. People have fast metabolism so they can digest food very fast. This man have a special ability to eat food, suck all the water content from that food during metabolism and then throw out the water through …………….. So during our journey we had a very special reason to

stop – To answer Anil Upreti’s nature’s call.

Balle Balle, Dehradun aa gaye

Finally we reached Dehradun at 4.30 PM on 18th. To our surprise or disappointment, it was Vineet who came outside on the road to guide us. We were shocked and surprised to see the simplicity of this guy who even on the day of his wedding was standing outside on the road a few hours before his marriage, to receive us. We got one room there where we all settled.

Mahaan Jasjiv Singh ka aagmaan

By 5.00 PM “Singh is King” reached there. As soon as he reached he started pulling leg for my new toned body of 84kgs only. He lost some 8 kgs and nowadays weighs only 68.

We all went to Vineet’s place and met his family members. There was a lot of chahal pahal as usual like a marriage ceremony going on. We had some fruits, cold drink and all.

Only lady member in our group had a serious issue of draping saree (in fact it’s a style statement these days for girls if they don’t know how to drape a saree) which she sorted out during this small meeting at Vineet’s place. She had some arrangement done with Vineet’s sister and Bhabhi and their beauty parlour.

Very interesting thing – Chetan drove for some 8 hours to reach Dehradun. Anil Upreti got tired because of this. So the only bed in our room was occupied, in fact captured, by him. But Chetan finally revolted and Anil was thrown on the ground.

Oye, Tu Shaadi mein aya hai!!!

Try beating this – Anil and Jasjiv had come specially to attend marriage but their clothes were not ready and we went out to explore one iron wallah. On the way these guys saw one samosa shop and they were on it. Hehe, I did not eat, I am admitting this, you can ask anyone out there. Ok, let me mention here. Anjana had already left with Didi and Bhabhi for parlour, so only four of us were there.

Mere Yaar ki Shaadi Hai

By 7.30 everyone got ready and we reached Vineet’s place which was only 50 feet from our room. Vineet was standing outside fully frustrated seeing second horse there (I am sure you can guess who is the first). Reason of frustration – how can one horse ride another. It proved right. He tried so hard that from one side, he was going to fall on the other side. But somehow he managed to save his dignity.

He was taken to a nearby temple for some basic rituals. When we met him there he was very angry because of that horse episode. However, he was relaxed too as a new shiny Tata Indigo car was waiting for him.

All of us reached at a nearby temple from where the Baraat had to proceed (dancing). Jasjiv Singh was hell bent that he is not going to dance on the road as this was his first such experience. Anil Upreti seemed more interested in the later part of marriage when he can open some bottles. Chetan Rana was maintaining his full dignity and walking very smartly with the entire Baraat. Manish Jha was confused because he was not able to find that burden around him which he was carrying from Bangalore. She was still in a parlour with three other prominent ladies of the family because of which baraat was getting delayed. Multiple calls were made to them and finally they arrived. By the time, baraat had already covered halfway.

Suddenly, all five of us put the “Dance Road on fire. We started dancing and everyone started dancing with us. Frankly speaking, I dance maximum in these places as noone is interested in you. So whatever you dance, its only you who can appreciate it and that is the reason why I was dancing. Chetan stole the show by dancing incessantly and I was trying to support him with my jhamma (this is what they call it in Bihar) dance. In fact, I saw a perfect company in Anjana too (she also hails from Bihar). Anil Upreti was actually thinking of some OO…OO..OO 50 cents song and he was shaking his whole body like that. Jasjiv appeared like bulb which only used to light up when either there was a Punjabi song or my abuse. He was tensed because of two reasons-he lost his camera and he was very hungry while baraat was taking too much time to reach to the pandaal.

We reached the Pandaal It was very beautifully decorated. After say 15 mins, I was unable to find Rana, Singh or Upreti. All three went for their real party. By 10.30, just two of us had our dinner with other baraat members. The three musketeers came back at 11.00 fully loaded and satiated. You could easily spot that tinkle in their eyes. Upreti was very much interested for ICE cream as there was no food left. Still the three managed to collect whatever was left and they had it. For some more time, we all were there enjoying Vineet’s barbaadi process.

He had all his 32 teeth visible on his face (langoor ko angoor mil gaya na, that’s what Anjana was saying). He was looking at us in intermittent gaps so as to ensure someone is there from his side too. He was little frustrated too as his pair of shoes were taken away by one of his saali. Anjana was busy locating heel in the sandal of bride. Jasjiv was confused as he never witnessed a marriage in night (sardar hai na, din mein shaadi karta hai). In fact, he got shock of his life when I told him this marriage rituals will continue for 3-4 hours and phere will be only at 3.00AM or so. Before saying this, he was very much interested to see the entire marriage. After listening this, he suddenly started feeling drowsy. Chetan Rana and Anil was busy in discussing something. Chetan Rana was also interested in locating some beautiful girls out there in marriage party (Atrayi, please excuse). Finally, we all decided to go back and take a good night sleep as we had to leave early morning the next day.

Aaa ab Laut Chalen

Next day, as planned to leave at 6.00 AM for Mussorie, we did leave at 10.00 AM. We almost had our lunch before leaving. We had a good fight for who will sit in the front seat with Chetan. I took the decision-Manish weighs 84kg, Jasjiv 68, Anjana 68, Anil 78. Automatically, it should be Manish. In this process some people(female) disclosed their secret and got a nice lecture from Singh is King. Hahaha, I was enjoying it.

We reached Mussorie by 12.30 pm as Rana was driving a car in ghat section for the first time in his life. So, speed was like you could have overtaken with a Luna. Jasjiv was trying to convince Rana that he is a better driver but of no use. We were supposed to see Kempty Falls which was further 18 kms from Mussorie. All of us except Anil decided not to go there. Anil was fully frustrated because of it. We saw Mall Road and met Jasjiv’s parent there. We also had a sightseeing (very much visible with your naked eyes) with telescope for Rs10/head.

We said bye to Jasjiv and left for Haridwar from there. In the way Anil Upreti was again back with his unique feature or disease. We had to stop car every now and then to make him relaxed. During our journey, we somehow got to know about Anil’s secret love story which was “ON” even during the journey. Name can’t be disclosed here as Anjana, Chetan and myself had signed NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) with Anil Upreti. Throughout the journey to Haridwar we tried getting more info on the same but of no use. We reached Haridwar at 3.30 pm and took holy dip till 5.00. In the meantime, we also had our Lunch cum evening supper.

We left Haridwar at 5.30 PM back to Delhi. Anil once gave his phone to Anjana and at the same time some message popped up on its screen. She could only read “Hey Baby” and then we all were after his life. We dint let him read that message. He stopped the car once again for his unique disease. This time it was dark and only Anil Upreti got down to answer nature’s call. I asked Chetan Rana to leave him behind just to scare him. He did that, but guess what, what could be Anil’s reaction. He stood there without any tension, took out his mobile, read that message and then started walking towards the car. We were all dumbfounded. He sat in the car and asked Rana to drive as he was asking his driver to drive the car.

Bas jee, aa gaye Delhi

We finally reached Delhi at 0015 hours. We said good bye to Rana and Upreti. Next day morning, Anjana was feeling loose emotions. A marriage is not complete unless one or two members have this emotional problem. I got some medicine so that she could be in a condition to fly back to Bangalore in the evening. We landed Bangalore at half past midnight.

It was an amazing fun in total and reason why I wrote this to make all others jealous of what they missed in the process.
